Creating mindfulness can have a very positive influence on your life. In the field of psychology there are many different schools of thought. Being mindful is another way of looking at the world. It can have a profound impact on the way you view situations in your life. The word mindfulness implies that you are concentrating on the present moment without judgement. Being the most present you can be on purpose. Whether you are in a meeting, in school, participating in sports or excerise, in your relationships with others, enjoying a meal, or in a difficult situation, it is the practice of being totally and completley aware of what you are doing and learning techniques which can enhance and help your experience. Of course your mind will wonder and thoughts and feelings will come and go, but it is the focus that matters and not the content. In our work together I incorporate many different modalities of therapy and mindfulness is just another approach. Altough mindfulness is not mediation or a form of relaxation, calmness and peacefulness can be a very positive outcome of a mindfulness practice. Many studies have shown that a mindfulness practice can help alleviate stress, because we will learn how to look at stress in a different way.
